I met Maria when she was a young teen in high school and was awed by her go-getter spirit and willingness to speak up about her immigration status and willingness to stand up for others. The chance to bring our own community together is meaningful because it shows that we have the ability to define our own destinies. We are stronger when we come together and support businesses within our own community. The trunk show was small and casual but it brought together several other business owners from the Pleasant Grove area and it provided us with the opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals who are working to improve their own corner of Dallas.
